Welcome to the April edition of the CO2balance newsletter. March has been a busy month for CO2balance with plenty of activity, in Africa, including an additional 1,000 improved cook stoves distributed in Bugasera, Rwanda. SCC joined the CO2balance team in Likoni, Kenya as part of their Challenge Africa fund raising project. The team helped build and paint a new fence to support the local school. Representatives from Toshiba TEC had a successful trip to the Mombasa Mangrove Conservation project which was started with Toshiba funding.

In addition, CO2balance are very pleased to have our first Gold Standard borehole rehabilitation project registered in Uganda. In Cameroon the Co2balance in country partner, ACREST, is continuing it's great work with the local communities. Whilst back in Kenya local stakeholder meetings were held in partnership with World Vision Australia to launch an improved cook stove project.

Getting stakeholders views in Nakuru and Baringo Counties

CO2balance has partnered with World Vision to develop a clean cook stove project in two counties in Kenya, Nakuru and Baringo and as a part of this collaboration, three local stakeholder meetings were held on the 4th and 5th of March.

The meetings were crucial as they provided vital feedback from all stakeholders including community members who will be the users of the stoves. Click here to read more...

First Gold Standard Borehole Rehabilitation Project Registered!

After many months hard work, our borehole rehabilitation project in Kole District, Northern Uganda has achieved Gold Standard Registered status. This means that we can fund new sources of water in this project using carbon finance - which contrasts with other carbon finance projects that can only fund water treatment technology.
